Tunit and Styrene Sole
Tunit (Leatherboard Sole, KV) – a type of block sole made from leatherboard sheets. It is a mixture of vulcanized rubber, recycled petroleum, a vulcanizing agent, and mineral additives.
Types of Leatherboard
- Summer (3mm thick) – smooth, tread relief is formed by embossing or laser processing.
- Demi-season – leatherboard with a pre-made tread, 3.5mm thick.
- Demi-season with welt – has an attached welt that protects shoes from moisture.
- Summer with welt – the welt serves a decorative function.
Pros:
- Lightweight material, comfortable for prolonged wear.
- Flexibility even at low temperatures.
- Eco-friendly – made from recycled materials.
- More affordable compared to natural leather.
Cons:
- Absorbs moisture, unsuitable for wet conditions.
- Less durable than natural leather.
- Not resistant to aggressive chemicals.
- May deform under heavy load.
- Becomes stiffer in extreme cold.
Styrene Sole

Production Process
- Removing excess material after casting.
- Final processing in the KV workshop.
- Shaping the sole with special knives.
- Decorating with metal inserts.
- Laser engraving – possible even on colored materials.
Heel – the support part of the shoe, attached to the heel with staples or screws. Made of
ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or polystyrene.
Heel Materials
- Polystyrene – cheaper, less durable, more porous.
- ABS – stronger, more elastic, used for high and lacquered heels.

- Lapidary part.

- Standard (5mm).
- 8mm thick.
